Why Should You Travel Alone?
As an avid solo traveler, there are questions I get all the time:
“How does it feel to travel alone?” is a popular one. A lot of people wonder if I ever feel lonely, but the number one questions is: “What do you do as a solo traveler?”
Here’s the truth: Traveling is like going to the grocery store. It’s really fun to go in a group, but you really find what you’re looking for when you go solo.
When you’re traveling in a group, someone wants to go eat Italian, but you want to go sightseeing. You must compromise a lot. Therefore, it does not allow you to indulge in your guilty pleasures and do what you love to do.
That’s why solo traveling is so magical, because it’s about the most important person in your life. You.
It’s also very rewarding. Imagine being in the middle of a city and wanting to see a stadium in another part of the town. You have to ask in that language and figure out the public transportation of that city.
So, once you get to that place that you wanted to see, not only are you going to appreciate the actual place, but you’re going to feel so accomplished that you did all of that on your own. What does that make you think? That if you can make stuff happen out of your comfort zone, you can make stuff happen all the time.
Sometimes things don’t go as planned, so you are forced to think on your feet, make it happen and adapt. You might be able to ask around for help, but in the end it’s all you. Does that idea sound familiar to you? Does it sound a lot like life?
That’s because solo travel is like taking a master class in how to do life , and you won’t enroll in this course by sitting at home looking at Pinterest dreaming about the places that you could be going to.
You can’t wait for your friend to get time off from work. You need to stop spending money in things that you don’t actually need. You just need to book the ticket, pack your bags and go, and just for once, do it by yourself. You’re going to love it!
